Boston, MA – Hybrid (3 days in office per week)

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join MMV’s $150 million Climate Technology Fund as it scales its operations. The fund’s mission is to deliver competitive financial returns through investments in companies that measure, mitigate or manage the effects of climate change. The fund closed in 2023 and is in the early stages of capital deployment. As an Associate, you would perform financial analysis and due diligence, originate investments, support investment thesis development and work with our portfolio companies. As a member of a newly formed team, you will help to shape our strategy and culture.

The Team

MassMutual Ventures is a multi-stage, global venture capital firm investing in financial technology, digital health, enterprise SaaS, climate technology and cybersecurity companies. We have been investing on behalf of MassMutual since 2014 and have backed over 60 startups to date across the globe.

We have over 20 investment team members located in Boston, London, Singapore and Bangalore, all of whom share a passion for identifying and supporting the founders of exceptional early-stage companies. Through our presence in the US, Europe and Asia, we offer portfolio companies insights into global markets and access to significant networks, expertise and later stage capital.

The Impact

We are a new team composed of highly experienced investors. We are curious and highly collaborative. You have a demonstrated passion for sustainability and believe that early-stage climate technology investing can generate superior economic returns. You have strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to build and evaluate a financial model, identify and judge key drivers or risks.

You take ownership of tasks, see them through to completion and help your colleagues succeed. You think critically and constructively about strategic and commercial issues related to climate change.

In the Associate role, you will have the opportunity to work with the team to analyze complex markets, recommend investments in early-stage companies, and support transactions end-to-end, from origination to execution.

The Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree

• 1+ years of experience in a relevant industry and role

• 1+ years of demonstrated proficiency in financial modelling and analysis

The Ideal Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a relevant industry and role

• Experience in venture capital, private equity, management consulting, or meaningful roles at a venture-backed startup

• Demonstrated interest in technology’s application in climate, energy and sustainability

• Relevant network in the climate tech start-up community and/or experience in a climate tech vertical

• Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends, early-stage companies and emerging value chains

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Proactive, well-organized, self-starter

• Collaborative, team-based approach

• A deep intellectual curiosity and appetite for learning

Salary Range: $110,400.00-$144,900.00
