The candidate will manage a team of 10-11 people who are responsible for building/enhancing/maintaining actuarial models used by the Valuation & Modeling and Inforce Financial Management departments

  • Oversee the selection/building/enhancement/maintenance of actuarial models used for reserves, cash flow testing, asset-liability management and other projections

  • Oversee completion of remaining software conversion for whole life reserves and ALM, reinsurance valuation, health functions, pension functions

  • Oversee implementation of emerging regulation into software models – specifically PBR and targeted GAAP improvements

  • Work with other departments to arrange for data feeds in and out of actuarial models as well as the arranging appropriate computing power

This role is expected to have the following positions as direct reports:

  • 2 Senior Actuaries – technical leads for Axis and CASE/Prophet

  • 6 Actuaries – Mastery level – model developers

  • 2 Actuarial Consultants (ALDP members)

This role will report to the Head of Inforce Financial Management and will be based in Boston, MA.


  • Fellow, Society of Actuaries, with at least 10-15 years of relevant experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree preferred

  • Good working knowledge of actuarial software packages, GGY AXIS greatly preferred

  • A leader committed to talent development and diversity

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups
