SUMMARY

Provide highest level of sales support and relationship management to assigned producer groups, brokers, and producers promoting sales of MassMutual's life products designed for employer and institutional markets including for most the important, challenging relationships and prospects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work independently and collaboratively as needed to achieve the annual sales and profitability goals established for the Institutional Insurance business line, including bank-owned life insurance (BOLI) and corporate-owned life insurance (COLI).

  • Serve as the primary MassMutual sales contact for assigned external BOLI and COLI brokers, consultants and producers, assisting them as needed to promote MassMutual as carrier of choice.

  • Position MassMutual institutional life insurance products optimally against competition, educating and assisting brokers to grow the sales pipeline and cultivate sales.

  • Demonstrate and apply expertise in the BOLI and COLI markets, product solutions, case designs, competition, underwriting, and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Represent MassMutual and our Institutional Life solutions at producer, broker, and industry conferences and in the field, delivering presentations as required.

  • Build and manage relationships with producers and brokers to optimize sales opportunities and retention of in-force policies.

  • Demonstrate advanced expertise in the relevant market, products, and sales processes.

  • Working independently, manages pre-sale and sales processes with external distribution.

  • Consult with distribution on MassMutual’s products, reinsurance parameters and underwriting requirements and facilitate the underwriting process.

  • Demonstrate expertise in the state and federal regulatory requirements for employers applying for life insurance on their employees, including compliant insurable interest

  • Consult on or propose complex case designs and prepare sales quotes suited to producers’ and clients’ needs, consistent with MassMutual’s requirements and conforming to applicable state and federal compliance requirements.

  • Coordinate pre-sales application process and implementation of new sales with MassMutual's new business staff.

  • Identify issues and coordinate with legal, actuarial, underwriting and management as appropriate to resolve. Gather and share competitive intelligence. Support product development efforts.

  • May participate in special projects. Often acts as go-to expert for peers and colleagues on technical case design, product, market or sales matters.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in financial or technical field)

  • Life insurance industry work experience in a sales support or field facing role

  • Demonstrable expertise in insurance products designed for institutional insurance markets, including financial performance metrics

  • Experience using life insurance illustration tools to develop case designs and prepare sales proposals

  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with life insurance producers, brokers and distribution firms

  • Strong analytical and quantitative analysis skills

  • Ability to travel up to 25% time

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BOLI/COLI sales/support experience highly desirable

  • FINRA Series 6 and 63

  • Problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, attention to detail, quantitative reasoning skills

  • Motivation to achieve both individual results and team goals

  • Life Industry designations (e.g. CLU, ChFC, FLMI)

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in BOLI/COLI markets
