Summary:

Workplace Operations Technology within MassMutual Technology is seeking a highly skilled and deeply technical senior level Business Solutions Technology Consultant to help us simplify our architecture and focus on strategically valuable technologies. This is a great opportunity to be a part of a transformational journey at MassMutual. An effective Technical Lead establishes a technical vision with the development team and works with developers to turn it into reality. Along the way, s/he takes on traits that other roles may have, such as a Team Lead, Architect or Software Engineering Manager while remaining hands on. This is a critical role that requires an independent individual to be both strategic and delivery-oriented; combines strong customer facing skills with deep technical expertise to meet demanding customer requirements. S/He will be a strategic business partner, work with the business to understand requirements, workflows, integration between systems and interface between the surrounding applications integrated with our core Record Keeping platform to “connect the dots.” Must have solid experience leading matrixed yet agile teams to deliver quality on time and delight the customer.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges

  • Engage in brain-storming, planning and design-review meetings with key stakeholders to understand and address business challenges

  • Create, develop, and maintain system designs

  • Oversee technical deliverables for projects through the software development life cycle, including validating the completeness of estimates, quality and accuracy of technical designs, and build and implementation plans

  • Participate in enterprise application implementations & upgrades, taking on roles beyond that of a developer when necessary, including business analysis and testing

  • Work closely with 3rd party resources to lead application development, test and deployment activities

  • Where appropriate, develop/implement “proofs of concept” to validate designs

  • Surface and provide insights into risks and potential failures and drive to resolution

  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level

  • Actively participate in industry and brings insights into MassMutual

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of demonstrated experience in delivering large, complex and strategic technology in Financial Services, Insurance and/or Retirements Services

  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming and database fundamentals

  • Experience with the following additional tools and technologies; .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, HTML, Microsoft visual studio, Microsoft SQL Server, Report Manager, Microsoft Office 2010/2013

  • Self-driven, extremely energetic individual who has the vision of enhancing the technology landscape at MassMutual

  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical designs into consumable information with all levels of the organization

  • Experience in developing complex custom solutions, integrating custom services and/or systems development and configuration

  • Ability to travel if needed

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Strong exposure to SDLC, agile methodologies, and DevOps

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to promote ideas persuasively, shape stakeholders opinions, project a positive image, work through conflicts and negotiate win/win solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and become productive in new technologies quickly
