The Account Manager (AM) is the primary point of contact for MassMutual’s Plan Sponsors. The AM cultivates and maintains a positive working relationship with benefits and retirement professionals at the Plan Sponsor, business owners, C-suite executives, and key decision makers.

In coordination with the Plan’s assigned Relationship Managers, the AM sets strategic goals for plan improvements, makes value added service recommendations, and provides consultative solutions to their Plan Sponsors.

AMs are required to travel to client locations, make presentations to Plan Committees, C-suite executives, and day-to-day contacts. AMs are expected to take part in Sales Final presentations.

The AM consults with clients regarding day-to-day administrative issues, including questions related to contribution and distribution processing, mergers and acquisitions, data and payroll conversions, and utilization of automated features. The AM also provides guidance to the sponsor with regulatory issues, such as late contributions, DOL or IRS audits, compliance testing, 5500 filing and plan audits, required annual notices, etc.

The AM partners with their assigned plans’ financial advisors to provide investment option information, assist with investment change requests, and aide with reporting or problem resolution.

The AM provides both reactive and consultative Plan Design assistance to plan sponsors, including recommendations for improving plan design.

The AM may represent the department in projects and will be expected to speak on behalf of the department’s leadership team. The AM must exercise discretion regarding when to make decisions in projects and when to seek input from other team members or management.
