The Head of Consumer Insights is a leadership role established to shape and develop our Consumer Insights function. This role will be responsible to lead the evolution of the function from a traditional market research department to a team of strategic thought leaders curating consumer insights to help drive critical business decisions. This person will be responsible for the implementation and further development of the new enterprise-wide segmentation capability, design of new proprietary customer research solutions, development of the new content delivery platform, insight generation, and best-in-class execution. The candidate will have immediate impact and the opportunity to interface with executive leaders throughout the organization. The position reports into the Head of Brand, Insights and Integrated Marketing.

As part of the company’s ongoing transformation, senior leaders throughout the company are being asked to deliver against a bold new set of strategic imperatives. This leadership role is critical to the success of this overall effort as, like never before, relevant and actionable insights into consumers and their behavior are being demanded companywide. The Head of Consumer Insights will directly and positively impact the company’s “course and speed” through the creation and roll-out of compelling new client-facing tools/decision-making platforms and data services that can be leveraged by executives companywide.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and manage a team to include relationship managers aligned with business teams, as well as analytics and secondary research experts.

  • Own, expand and maintain the firm’s new enterprise-wide Segmentation Framework. Guide business leaders in developing their target audiences, developing their go to market and cross sell strategies and messaging platforms.

  • Own, expand and maintain the firm’s enterprise-wide online research repository and content delivery platform, The Hub.

  • Own and drive the enterprise-wide customer research efforts that cross lines of business and customer groups such as the State of the American Family.

  • Develop the strategic learning agenda for the enterprise to include brand, channel and key customer segments insights. Identify insight needs and collaborate across the lines of business to build consensus and support.

  • Drive the gathering and synthesis of consumer data, including proprietary data around customers, customer trends, consumer tastes/preferences, etc.

  • Serve as the lead strategic planner in new integrated marketing campaigns, contributing to the strategic direction of the campaigns, the development of the briefs and the creation of the messaging platforms.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 10 years of consumer insights, strategy and/or relevant consulting experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree valued

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading a functional transformation from traditional market research to consumer insights preferred

  • Expertise in financial services industry preferred – with keen understanding of consumer trends and drivers of performance

  • Ability to curate insights across the organization and make strategic recommendations based on those insights to business partners

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders in a matrix organization

  • Ability to create simple, powerful, and data-driven written communications for senior leaders

  • Comfortable in presenting findings and insights to senior leaders

  • Drives timely, high-quality decision making

  • Proven competency building relationships with a diverse set of clients/partners and constituencies across a large organization

  • Inspires high performance, demands accountability
